Rumor: Taobao to Revamp Homepage with SNS Features

Hangzhou-based C2C & B2C e-commerce site Taobao will revamp its homepage in mid-September, according to an industry insider. Leaked screenshots of the new homepage show Taobao's newly released e-commerce SNS product "Aitao" occupying a prominent position on the site.
According to the leaked screenshots, Taobao's revamped homepage has undergone a number of major changes:
The main body of the Taobao homepage now displays listings from Aitao instead of featured Taobao products.
Product categories have been placed into an expandable column on the side of the homepage, and are no longer concentrated on the bottom on the Taobao homepage.
Taobao has increased the number of pictures on the homepage, and has reduced the use of its signature orange color.
Large-size advertisements that have traditionally displayed prominently on the Taobao homepage have been removed from the closed-beta version of the homepage. It has not been confirmed if this will be a permanent feature of the new Taobao homepage.
