Jingdong H1 Open Platform Fresh Food Sales Grow 500% YoY

Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform Jingdong has revealed that sales of fresh foods on its open platform grew by 500% YoY in H1 2013. Jingdong's fresh food channel offers seafood, fruits, vegetables, poultry, and fresh meats, among eight categories of food, and is currently seeing monthly sales growth of approximately 20%.

Jingdong recently entered into a cooperation with Chinese food producer Hebei Sanli Organic Food to open an "Organic Food Products Base" on Jingdong's e-commerce open platform. Jingdong has also partnered with the Canadian Association of Prawn Producers to soon open a Canadian deep-sea wild arctic shrimp store.

Han Chengxin, Jingdong open platform GM of shoes, bags, cosmetics and food, has stated that Jingdong's total open platform gross merchandise volume (GMV) will reach RMB 100 bln in 2013.
