Update: China to Trial Paid Music Downloads

Wang Lei, head of Chinese internet company Netease's (Nasdaq: NTES) mobile music app "Netease Cloud Music" ("Wangyi Yun Yinyue"), has revealed that China's online music industry will begin paid music download trials by the end of 2013. Relevant government departments will announce uniform pricing and other industry standards for the trials.

Netease Cloud Music has a registered user base of 6 mln, with over 10 mln songs available on the platform. Netease recently released an updated version of the Netease Cloud Music mobile app, and has simultaneously launched open-beta testing on a PC version of the service.
