Changyou Sues Playcrab for Mobile Game Infringement

DoNews, 9/26/13

Chinese online game developer and operator Changyou (Nasdaq: CYOU), a subsidiary of Internet portal Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU), recently filed a lawsuit in Beijing's Haidian District Peoples Court against Beijing-based game developer Playcrab for alleged infringement of Changyou's mobile game adaptation rights. The game in question is Playcrab's mobile card RPG Da Zhangmen. Changyou is seeking RMB 5 mln in damages. The court has accepted the case.

Changyou claims that Da Zhangmen uses plot points and character names from selected Louis Cha novels, a violation of the company's mobile game adaptation rights. On June 1, Changyou acquired the mobile game adaptation rights for 11 Louis Cha works for RMB 20 mln.
