TMall Announces Same-Day Delivery Service

Beijing Business Journal, 10/23/13

Alibaba Group's B2C e-commerce site TMall has launched a new same-day delivery service, allowing customers who complete purchases before 11:00 AM to have their purchase delivered by midnight of the same day. The service is being provided initially to customers in Beijing, Shanghai, and 8 other cities. In contrast to other online retailers who operate their own express shipping services, TMall's same-day delivery service uses third-party logistics companies.

The service is being offered mainly for purchases of small electric appliances from the 3C section of TMall, according to a representative from Alibaba Group. Merchants of other brands and product categories can also choose to join the new service offering. TMall expects that its same-day delivery service will be available in 15 cities by the end of the year.
