Mobile Taobao Adds Laiwang Connectivity

Ebrun, 10/26/13

Hangzhou-based C2C & B2C e-commerce platform operator Taobao has updated the company's Android app, adding connectivity to parent company Alibaba Group's Laiwang mobile instant messaging app. The update allows users to share Taobao product information and "Weitao" mobile Taobao public account messages to user Laiwang homepages and as Laiwang status updates.

In the new version of the Taobao app, sharing functionality is offered only to Sina's (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblogging platform, Laiwang, and via SMS, with users now no longer able to share content to "Moments" walls on Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat (Weixin) mobile messaging application.
