GAPP Completes Merger with SARFT in Hebei

Provincial offices of China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) completed their merger in China's Hebei province today, marking the opening of the Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television in Hebei.

The newly formed bureau is a directly subordinate mechanism of the Hebei provincial government, and was formed from the merger of the Administration of Press and Publication of Hebei and the Administration of Radio, Film and Television of Hebei, which now no longer exist. Li Xiaoming, the former Party Secretary and Bureau Chief of the Administration of Press and Publication of Hebei, will serve as the Party Secretary of the new organization. Wang Jingwu, the former Party Secretary and Bureau Chief of the Administration of Radio, Film and Television of Hebei, will serve as the organization's new Bureau Chief.

The Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television of Hebei's core functions include regulation of market access, content oversight, and administrative enforcement, along with the promotion of market growth through the efficient allocation of resources, in order to develop the press and publication, radio, film and television industries in Hebei. The Hebei Copyright Bureau is also subsumed under the Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television of Hebei. The entire bureau is comprised of 16 individual departments and 128 administrators.
