Xiaomi Tests Easy-to-install MIUI ROM

DoNews, 12/02/13

Beijing-based Android handset developer Xiaomi recently announced on its Xiaomi community forum that the company is soliciting 300 users to participate in public beta testing of a simplified version of the company's Android-based MIUI operating system for non-Xiaomi handset users, titled "Xiaomi OS" ("Xiaomi Xitong"). The new product, which may be downloadable in app form, includes MIUI-style contacts, SMS, smart dialing, and MiHome Launcher features. Compatible handset models include: the Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, S4, Note 2, Note 3, and Galaxy Nexus.

Xiaomi representatives have stated that the company's customizable MIUI operating system targets hardcore fans, while the new Xiaomi OS is meant for moderately enthusiastic and new users, allowing users to experience Xiaomi's MIUI through direct installation without the need to completely reinstall handset systems.
