Coship to Launch Internet TV App Open Platform

Che Ke, VP of Chinese TV and set-top box (STB) manufacturer Coship Electronics (002052.SZ), has announced that the company will launch an internet TV app open platform in 2014 providing app development and distribution services, as well as continue to expand its partnerships with broadcast companies.

Currently, the majority of smart TV and set-top box (STB) apps are directly ported from mobile apps on the Android platform, resulting in poor user experience and low usage rates. Coship is planning to develop new apps which will feature interactivity between smartphones and smart TVs. Coship is currently in discussions with app development firms in advance of a Q1 2014 launch of the company's open platform.

Coship holds partnerships with 16 provincial broadcast networks. The company plans to extend its regional partnerships in 2014.
