Line, Wandoujia Partner on China Business

Japanese mobile messaging app Line today announced a partnership with Chinese Android app store Wandoujia through which Wandoujia will take responsibility for operation of Line in mainland China.

As per the agreement, Wandoujia will be responsible for Line technical support, marketing, content, operation, and user acquisition in China. According to a Line spokesperson, the partnership with Wandoujia will help Line reach a younger user base in China, and Wandoujia and Line will explore more areas in which the companies can deepen their cooperation in the future.

Line has a global user base of nearly 400 mln, with sizable user bases in Japan (50 mln), Thailand (24 mln), and Indonesia (20 mln). The app has not revealed its user figures for the China market.
