Shanghai Gov't Requires Officials to Use Domestic Brand Smartphones

Wei Jianguo, former vice minister at China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), has announced that government officials in Shanghai are now required to use domestic brand smartphones, citing national security concerns. Handsets from Apple and Samsung are not permitted for use.
The requirement may be expanded to officials at all levels of government in the future.
