JD.com Launches WeChat Mobile Store Solutions for Third-party Merchants

DoNews, 10/22/14

Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD) has announced that the company has completed integration of its "Weidian" mobile store builder tool with JD.com's online platform. The Weidian tool allows third-party merchants to build mobile stores on Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app, and will now see full integration of merchant WeChat stores with stores on JD.com. JD.com is now soliciting third-party merchants to join the platform. Sellers can synch their Tencent QQ or WeChat accounts with Weidian to access an all-in-one system to manage back-end processes for products, orders, account settlement, and after sales service. They can also direct traffic to their mobile stores from Mobile QQ and WeChat.

A spokesperson for Weidian noted that more than half of the third-party sellers on JD.com have applied to join the new service.
