Meizu to Release Ubuntu OS Smartphone in Q1 2015

Zhuhai-based handset manufacturer Meizu and UK-based Linux software developer Canonical have announced a strategic partnership agreement bringing Canonical's Linux-based mobile OS "Ubuntu" to Chinese smartphones and expanding Meizu's Android-based "Flyme OS" into overseas markets.

A spokesperson for Meizu has stated that the first Ubuntu-based Meizu smartphone should be released in Q1 2015, and will be available through a variety of distribution channels in both Europe and mainland China.
