Gome to Open 100,000 Microstores on WeChat

Chinese home appliance and consumer electronics retailer Gome (0493.HK) will establish 100,000 mobile "microstores" this year and has already started large-scale testing of more than 10,000 such stores in Xiamen and Xi'an, according to Gome president Wang Junzhou at the company's 2014 financial results meeting. Gome employees can personally interact with customers via Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app to generate interest in Gome's e-commerce website Gome.com.cn. The company has 300,000 full-time employees, and all of the microstores will be run by the company's own employees, said Gome Chairman Mou Gui.
