Rumor: Baidu to Launch O2O E-commerce Platform Baidu Mall

Tencent Tech, 4/30/15

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) plans to launch an O2O e-commerce platform called Baidu Mall in the near future, according to an informed source.

The platform will rely on Baidu Maps and the offline stores of collaborating businesses, and will funnel online customers into completing transactions offline. Users can also choose to make their purchase online, and then collect their purchased items from a bricks-and-mortar store.

Baidu Mall aims to attract mid-range to high-end brands, of which it has currently enlisted 1,000. Its target customers are 25-40 year-old mid-to-high-end consumers.
