Rumor: Fruit E-tailer FruitDay Secures USD 100 Mln Series D

Shanghai-based Meizi Digital Technology, operator of online fresh fruit delivery service FruitDay, has reportedly completed USD 100 mln Series D funding, according to FruitDay investors familiar with the matter. The funding will be used for supply chain expansion and service improvements, said the investors. Meizi Digital Technology's senior executives did not comment on this matter when reached by Chinese media.

FruitDay, established in 2009, received angel funding in 2011, USD 7-digit Series A from SIG Asia in 2013, USD 8-digit Series B from ClearVue and SIG Asia in March 2014, and USD 70 mln Series C led by Chinese B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD) in May 2015.

FruitDay's sales volume hit RMB 500 mln in 2014 and RMB 1 bln in 2015. The platform's app had over 7 mln users at the end of November last year.
