AI Healthcare Technology Developer iCarbonX Raises RMB 1 Bln Series A

Shenzhen-based healthcare data platform and artificial intelligence technology developer iCarbonX Smart Technology has announced it completed RMB 1 bln (roughly USD 150 mln) in Series A funding from a group of investors including Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK), Tianjin-based cell and gene engineering business Zhongyuan Union Cell & Gene Engineering (Vcan Bio) (600645.SH), and others. The funding values iCarbonX at around USD 1 bln, and the money raised will be used to gather more data and extend the company's analysis capabilities.

iCarbonX was established in October 2015 by former Beijing Genomics Institute CEO Wang Jun and others with the aim of building an AI-enabled big data platform for health management purposes.
