Ant Financial, Hospital Partner on Medical Treatment Installment Plan

Ant Financial, the financial services affiliate of Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA), recently announced that its pay-by-credit service Ant Check Later (formerly Huabei) will partner with Fudan University-affiliated Huashan Hospital to provide medical installment plans. The maximum amount of credit per user that Ant Check Later will initially cover under the plan is RMB 50,000.
Users will be able to book medical checkup packages at Huashan Hospital directly from Alipay, Alibaba's online payment platform, and set up 3-month, 6-month, 9-month or 12-month installment plans through Ant Check Later. These services are expected to launch next month, with medical appointments, treatment, surgery and hospital stays among some of the other areas earmarked for further cooperation in the future.
Ant Check Later's COO Shao Wenlan said that medical services were a key priority for the platform this year. The company reportedly has partnership agreements in place with over 150 hospitals, and will be rolling out its internet-based financial services across these in quick succession.
