Qihoo 360 Invests in Handset Manufacturer Blephone

Shenzhen-based handset manufacturer Blephone Technology has announced the establishment of the Blephone Technology Park in Chongqing, and the completion of Series A funding from internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360 and Chongqing Xizheng Yufu Private Equity Management. The three parties have established formal partnerships, which will see all Blephone handsets equipped with Qihoo 360's mobile operating system.
Huang Mingquan, chairman of Blephone, told Chinese news site Blue Whale Media that Blephone sales surpassed 13 mln units in the first three quarters of 2016. The company is targeting sales of 20 mln handsets this year and 30 mln handsets next year. In the next three years, Blephone expects to sell 90 mln units.
Huang also said that China's three main telecom operators are Blephone's most important sales channels.
