MIIT Releases China's Dec 2023 Fixed-Line, Mobile User Totals by Province

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released statistics detailing the country's total number of fixed-line telephone subscribers (registered accounts) and mobile subscribers by province as of the end of December 2023. China finished the month with over 173 mln fixed-line subs and nearly 1.727 bln mobile subs. The December totals represent a net decrease of 6.09 mln fixed-line subs and net increase of 43.15 mln mobile subs compared to the end of December 2022.
While the MIIT also reported that 5G handset subs accounted for approximately 805 mln, or 46.6%, of China's total mobile subscriber base as of the end of December 2023, it did not break out 5G handset subscriber figures by province.
