Xialang to Invest RMB 350 Mln in Production Facility

On June 9, Chinese mobile phone maker Xialang held a groundbreaking ceremony on its mobile phone manufacturing base in Chongqing. Xialang president Zhang Guotian revealed that the company will invest RMB 350 mln into the base over several phases. After construction completes on the first phase, the base will have the capacity to assemble 2 mln mobile phones annually. The second phase of construction will focus on building a surface-mount technology (SMT) production line, as well as production lines for plastic casings and painting. After the entire base goes into operation, it will have an annual production value of more than RMB 1 bln.
Xialang will produce high-end mobile phones. Zhang said that the company will adopt a strategy of "R&D in East China, manufacturing in West China," and will seek to attract outstanding R&D staff in order to position the company to win in promising future markets.
