At a press conference convened today by China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) to announce TD-SCDMA commercial trial arrangements, the operator explained that as of April 1 it would officially begin public trials of commercial TD-SCDMA networks in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, and Qinhuangdao.
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) issued a notice yesterday that beginning in late August of this year, it will begin the first batch of model informatization projects, with test sites to focus on areas including large-scale backbone enterprise system outsourcing services, SME e-commerce services, mobile e-commerce, electronic authentication services, credit data services, amalgamated rural informatization services, and wireless broadcast frequency technology applications.
