China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has published 125 recommended standards for the telecom industry, among which mobile telecom terminal standard YD/T 1591-2009, titled "Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Chargers and Data Interfaces for Mobile Telecommunications Terminals," recommends that handset chargers adopt a three-section design, including three types of connections.
According to Tang Ruijin, secretary-general of the Shenzhen Mobile Communications Association, the Association is currently in talks with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), an investor, and dozens of retailers in Mumbai and Calcutta, and has already reached a preliminary agreement to develop handset production in India.
