The China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) issued its 26th report on the state of development of China's internet today, showing that as of December 2010, the number of Chinese internet users had reached 457 mln, an increase of 73.3 mln from the end of 2009; Internet penetration was at 34.3%, an increase of 5.4 percentage points from 2009.
China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and IDG issued a joint report on China's online gaming industry for 2010 today, valuing the country's gaming industry at a total RMB 32.37 bln, up 26% YoY - the slowest annual growth since GAPP first began developing reports on China's online gaming industry in 2003.
While speaking recently at the 2011 China ICT Developmental Trends Summit in Beijing, Chen Jinqiao, vice president of engineering for the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) research institute, estimated that as of the end of 2010, China had roughly 43 mln 3G users, which was only about 70% of previous projections.
Alibaba Group and its financial partners will invest between RMB 20-30 bln to construct a national warehouse network called "AliWarehouse" as part of its new distribution strategy, and aims to raise more than RMB 100 bln from the e-commerce sector to develop a national distribution system.
