China Mobile Terminal, the terminals subsidiary of China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), recently began its Q2 handset procurement, under which it will purchase 6 mln G3 handsets, roughly 2.4 mln of which will be "mass-market" smartphones, 1.6 mln of which will be multimedia-oriented smartphones, and roughly 2 mln of which will be feature phones.
Informed sources have recently disclosed that after a year of negotiations, Taiwanese mobile handset manufacturer HTC (2498.TW) and Chinese Internet portal Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU) will officially enter into a cooperation by which Sohu's news client will be pre-installed on two HTC One series' operator-customized handsets.
China's Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) have jointly issued an announcement regarding requirements and testing standards for laboratories and other bodies undertaking the work of voluntary Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) certification.
