Shanghai Leads China with 91% 4G Penetration Among Mobile Subs in August 2019

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released statistics detailing the country's total number of fixed-line telephone subscribers (registered accounts) and mobile subscribers by province as of the end of August 2019. China finished the month with just under 192 mln fixed-line subs and nearly 1.596 bln mobile subs.
Southern China's Guangdong was the province with the greatest number of mobile subs at over 167 mln, or approximately 10.5% of the total, followed by Shandong with nearly 108 mln, or roughly 6.8%, Jiangsu (6.3%), Henan (6.1%), and Sichuan (6.0%).
The five provinces with the highest penetration of 4G users among their respective mobile subscriber bases were Shanghai with 90.7%, followed by Guangdong (85.6%), Tibet (82.8%), Qinghai (82.5%), and Zhejiang (82.4%). The provinces with the lowest 4G penetration were Xinjiang (27.5%), Heilongjiang (74.3%), Sichuan (74.4%), Chongqing (74.4%), and Jilin (74.6%).
