Unicom to Sell 10,000 CDMA Base Stations to Telecom

Zhao Yilei, a representative in the Securities Office of Shanghai-listed China United Telecommunications Corp Ltd (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) claims that China Unicom has 80,000 dual-use GSM and CDMA base stations, and will transfer 30,000 of those base stations built mainly to serve its CDMA network to China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK). The company will also sell another 10,000 base stations to China Telecom. The sales price for these assets is RMB 4.5 bln and is covered in the general transfer agreement.
