Tencent Anti-Phishing System Blocks Gaming Sites

DoNews, 7/23/08

Chinese instant messaging developer Tencent (0700.HK) recently began a campaign against fraudulent websites. Multiple game companies have reported that this move has led to the sudden blocking of links to many gaming companies and game-related websites from within Tencent's QQ instant messaging application. 9You (www.9you.com), World of Warcraft (www.wowchina.com), Legend of Mir 3, ZT Online and other games/gaming platforms were among those affected by the blocks. Tencent claims it is investigating the incidents, and will restore normal traffic to these sites as soon as possible.
