China Mobile Starts TD-SCDMA Antenna Bidding

Communication Weekly, 10/29/08

Results for China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) second round of TD-SCDMA bidding are set to be released in the near future, and the company has begun seeking bids on related products from equipment manufacturers.

A source from a manufacturer that participated in the bidding revealed that on October 24 China Mobile announced that it would begin soliciting bids on antennae for its TD-SCDMA base stations. Between 5-8 manufacturers are believed to be participating in the bidding. China Mobile requires that all products participating in the bidding first receive the recommendation of a provincial-level China Mobile company.
