Metro Group, Foxconn Ally on Retail

German retailer and wholesaler Metro Group has announced it will form a joint venture with consumer electronics outsourced manufacturing firm Foxconn Technology Group (2038.HK; 2354.TW) to launch a new consumer electronics retail chain in China. The company will operate under the brand name Media Markt, and expects to open its first Chinese stores in Shanghai in 2010.
