Tianjin Unicom to Invest RMB 400 Mln in FTTH Project

During yesterday's opening ceremony for China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) international data center in Huayuan Park, Tianjin, Tianjin Unicom general manager Wang Jinsen announced his company plans to invest RMB 300-400 mln this year in FTTH. The first phase of the project, to begin in July and expected to be completed before the end of the year, will bring coverage to roughly 300,000 households.

Wang added there will be several pricing plans once FTTH is available, including 2 MB per month for RMB 100-200, or comparable to current ADSL fees.
