China Mobile Netbook Sales Only 100K in 3 Months

China Business, 7/12/09

China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) joint promotion of netbooks with PC manufacturers has shipped less than 100,000 units since the program began in April, when it was predicted that one manufacturer alone would ship 90,000 units over three months. An industry source divulged that in the past three months netbook sales have come to roughly 800,000 units, with orders from China's telecom operators accounting for barely 10% of the total market. The source added that China Mobile is currently revising its targets for the program, but has yet to make a final decision.
