Alipay to Support Overseas RMB Purchases

Polo Shao, president of Chinese third-party payment provider Alipay, revealed today that the Alipay had recently received a response from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange permitting the service to offer its users the option of purchasing goods from overseas with direct RMB payments. Shao did not discuss what tax issues might be applicable to such purchases.

According to Shao, Alipay currently offers service to more than 300 overseas businesses in 25 countries.
