Taomee Launches Video Channel

Shanghai-based children's virtual world developer and operator Taomee (NYSE: TAOM) today launched an online video channel. Although previous industry rumors suggested Taomee would partner with an online video site, the channel (v.61.com) does not display any partner logos.

In addition to several popular cartoons, the channel offers language and mathematics education content for primary school children as well as videos about history, humanities, and travel. According to previous announcements by Taomee, the company plans to offer 1,000 cartoons and 5-10 animated films over the next 3-5 years.

The channel will begin broadcasting a cartoon based on Taomee's virtual world 51Seer on January 10.
