Beijing Mobile to Provide Free iPhone 5 Nano-SIMs

Beijing Morning Post, 9/17/12

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) subsidiary Beijing Mobile has revealed to the Beijing Morning Post that it will allow iPhone 5 users to swap their current SIM cards for an iPhone 5 compatible Nano-SIM card free of charge. Beijing Mobile will begin offering Nano-SIM cards to users at the end of September.

Editor's Note: China Mobile has yet to reach a deal with Apple on any version of the iPhone, meaning that although China Mobile subscribers can obtain an iPhone from a handset retailer, they are only able to use it on China Mobile's 2G network (and then only after modifying or swapping their existing SIM card).
