China Mobile to Start TD-LTE Terminal Procurement

Li Yue, president of China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), announced at today's China Mobile Terminal Supply Chain Summit in Beijing that the operator will commence 2013 TD-LTE terminal procurement in over 100 cities in late 2012, and plans to order more than 200,000 TD-LTE terminals in Q4 2012.

Li added that TD-SCDMA terminal sales are expected to exceed 100 mln units next year, 80% of which will be smartphones. Non-operator channels are expected to account for more than 50% of sales volume, and sales of handsets without a contract plan will reach 40 mln units.
