Ping An Bank, Taobao Partner on Credit Card

Ping An Bank recently released a Ping An/Taobao co-branded credit card. While Taobao rules for online purchases normally dictate that only users who complete 100 transactions or make a total of RMB 5,000 in payments through third-party payment processor Alipay are eligible to become Taobao "gold members," the Ping An/Taobao card immediately elevates cardholders to the ranks of the privileged. Cardholders who activate their cards and connect their card numbers to Taobao sister site Alipay's Express Checkout service will become immediately eligible for Taobao and Alipay gold member status and all associated privileges for online payments, shopping, financial management, and offline services.
