Rumor: Huawei to Launch 6-inch Smartphone in Early 2013

ZOL, 12/10/12

Richard Yu, Huawei SVP and chairman of Huawei Device, has confirmed on his personal microblogging account that the mobile device maker will release a "Giant Screen Handset" at the beginning of next year. In October, a listing for a 6.1-inch, 1080x1920 resolution screen handset called the "Ascend Mate" was added to Huawei's official website.

Yu has hinted that Huawei's "Giant Screen Handset" will be less expensive than Samsung's Galaxy Note II and encouraged customers who were considering buying a Galaxy Note II to "hold on" and wait for the new Huawei handset. The new handset is rumored to have a 1.8GHz quad-core processor and up to 2GB of RAM.
