139Shop's "Little Pepper" Handset Reaches Sales of 550K Units

Tan Wensheng, CEO of Chinese e-commerce handset retailer 139Shop.com, recently disclosed that cumulative sales of 139Shop's self-branded "Xiao Lajiao" ("Little Pepper") smartphones have reached 550,000 units, including 400,000 standard models and 150,000 Aliyun 2.0 and China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) models. Tan also revealed that 139Shop would be announcing a reduced price sale of the handsets.

The Little Pepper I2 handset, originally priced at RMB 699, will be available for RMB 499. The WCDMA/GSM dual-SIM dual-standby smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8225 dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM, and 5MP camera, available with either the Aliyun or Android mobile OS. The China Telecom version of the handset, the Little Pepper I2C will continue to be priced at RMB 699, but will come with a free gift package valued at RMB 100 that includes a back cover shell and spare battery. 15,000 units spanning all three versions have already sold out.
