Gome, Intel Partner on Ultrabook and Touchscreen PC Sales

Netease Tech, 12/17/12

Chinese home appliance and consumer electronics retailer Gome (0493.HK) and Intel have reached an agreement to jointly promote Intel-core touchscreen ultrabooks at Gome retail outlets.

According to Gome President Wang Junzhou, the company plans to increase its procurement of PCs running on Intel-core processors in the coming year. Touchscreen PC sales are expected to account for 60% of all Gome PC sales in the coming year. Gome expects 2013 PC sales to grow to over 3 mln.

As a part of the agreement, Gome will set up over 1,000 special experience stores and 100 flagship experience stores for touch-screen PCs nationwide.

With the launch of Windows 8, touchscreen PCs will increasingly become a part of the mainstream, according to Intel China GM Yang Xu. Through its partnership with Gome, Intel hopes to accelerate consumer adoption of the product.
