ZTE to Use UnionPay NFC Standard for Handsets

Netease Tech, 12/21/12

Chinese banking network China UnionPay and Chinese telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) have signed an agreement to integrate strategic research and development, marketing, and service network solutions. As a part of the agreement, ZTE near-field communication (NFC) contactless payment-supported handsets released by ZTE in the coming year will adhere to China UnionPay's 13.56MHz NFC standard.

The two companies will also look to explore ways in which they may partner on solutions to allow bank card holders to make payments via internet TV.
