Aliyun OS to Invest RMB 50 Mln to Support App Developers

Tencent Tech, 11/09/12

Chen Liaohan, head of Aliyun OS operations for Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group, announced at the AliCloud Developers Conference in Hangzhou today that Aliyun OS plans to invest RMB 50 mln next year to support developers in launching start-ups, expanding market reach, and mitigating risk.

Aliyun OS has three distinct advantages, according to Chen: first, differentiated services including high-volume storage and various free resources; second, marketing resources via Alibaba's e-commerce platforms; and third, a revenue share mechanism that allows companies to draw revenue from handset users.

AliCloud spun off Aliyun OS as a distinct subsidiary of Alibaba Group in September 2012.
